Terms of Service
Effective Date: November 2026
Agreement
These Terms of Service apply to MyTask, an Android task management app developed by Edward Sampayan ("the developer", "we"). By installing or using MyTask you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
The App
MyTask lets you create tasks, set reminders, attach photos, documents and voice notes, extract text from images, and generate QR codes for calendar events. It is offline-first: your task data is stored on your device. How MyTask handles information is described in the Privacy Policy.
MyTask is provided for personal use. You may use it for your own tasks, school work, appointments and errands.
Your Responsibilities
- Use the app lawfully and do not misuse it, interfere with it, or attempt to reverse engineer it except where the law allows.
- Keep your device, your backup files and your backup password safe.
- Make sure you have the right to store any photos, documents and recordings you attach to tasks, and respect other people's privacy when doing so.
- Treat a QR code you generate like the task it describes: anyone who scans it, or receives a picture of it, receives the task details inside it.
Backups and Data Loss
Your data lives on your device. The developer does not operate servers that hold your tasks and cannot recover them for you. MyTask's Backup & Restore feature creates a password-protected file, and the password cannot be recovered. If you uninstall the app, clear its storage, lose your device, or forget your backup password, your data may be permanently lost. You are responsible for keeping backups you rely on.
Reminders and Reliability
Reminders depend on your device, its settings, battery optimization and the permissions you grant. Do not rely on MyTask as your only way of remembering medical, legal, financial, safety-critical or other important obligations. Text recognition and speech-to-text can make mistakes, so check their results.
Third-Party Services
MyTask uses components from third parties, such as Google ML Kit for on-device text recognition and your device's own speech recognition service. Those components are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and the developer is not responsible for them.
Ownership and Your Content
The MyTask app, its name and its design belong to the developer. You keep ownership of everything you put into the app. The developer does not receive or claim rights to your tasks, attachments or recordings, because they stay on your device.
Pricing
MyTask is currently free to download and use. The developer may introduce advertising or paid features in the future. If that happens, these terms and the Privacy Policy will be updated before those changes take effect, and any purchases will be handled through Google Play under its own terms.
No Warranty and Limitation of Liability
MyTask is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for lost data, missed reminders, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded, including those that may apply where you live.
Changes and Ending Use
These terms may be updated as MyTask evolves. The effective date at the top of this page shows the latest version, and continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms. You can stop using MyTask at any time by uninstalling it. The developer may update, suspend or discontinue the app.
